The best ring you can obtain after starting a new playthrough is the Enchanted Ring, which is an item you obtain during one of the first few quests in the College Of Winterhold storyline. If the player has less health left than the currently granted bonus and no health regeneration (from another mod, or this), they will die by the time a waiting (T) period is over or when the bonus expires. This is true for the original Ring of Namira as well.
I'd also like to make a note regarding health regeneration potions. I actually almost perked Alchemy because of them, but decided it was a little too superfluous.
